history history
THE RED WOLF CLUB is the organization that supports, promotes and raises funds for Arkansas State University Athletics. When student-athletes are honored for their scholastic achievements and for their championship efforts on the field of play, Red Wolf Club members can take special pride in knowing their generous contributions had a direct impact on the life of a young person.
The Red Wolf Club, formerly known as the Indian Club, has been a major part of ASU Athletics since its inception in 1957. Since that time, the Red Wolf Club has been the avenue that fans, alumni and the community utilize to help strengthen ASU Athletics. ASU has a proud history. As one of four institutions in the state of Arkansas celebrating its Centennial in 2009, ASU is the only one that competes at the highest level of NCAA competition. Over the years, ASU has produced its share of winning programs and individual successes.
With your support to the Red Wolf Club, today's student-athletes will have the same opportunities to be successful on and off the playing field. Although our goal is for each team to win a conference championship, our main focus is the educational opportunities we offer over 325 young men and women.
MISSION STATEMENT:
Arkansas State University Athletics supports the university mission through our commitment to student-athletes in their pursuit of academic achievement, athletic accomplishments, social development and personal growth.
purpose purpose
When ASU made the commitment to Division I-A football in 1991, we agreed to provide the minimum number of athletic scholarships to maintain that level. That commitment in 1991 now requires us to provide athletic scholarships for 16 varsity sports. These scholarship costs are tied directly with the tuition at Arkansas State University. Each time tuition increases, our scholarship costs increase. The Red Wolf Club's primary focus is to offset the rising cost associated with competing at the NCAA's highest classification. Your gift truly makes a difference in a young person's life.
"My most memorable moment at ASU was winning third place in the weight throw at our indoor conference meet as an underdog. My athletic scholarship has given me the opportunity to take full advantage of my academic studies and learn how to be versatile in life as a student-athlete."
-Bryant Hankton Jr., Magnolia, AR, Electrical Engineering
